The overarching technology concept of IoT describes the increasing integration of intelligence and connectivity into objects, such as machines, automobiles, appliances and everyday objects. Due to its thin, lightweight and flexible form factor, organic and printed electronics provides the ideal technological properties to integrate these intelligent features into any kind of object, regardless of shape and size. Flexible sensors, temperature loggers, smart objects that communicate via RFID or NFC protocols and smart labels that include electrochromic displays are only a few examples of applications enabled by printed electronics.
