Digital services are increasingly influencing value creation in mechanical engineering. The event will show the possibilities of digital platforms using predictive maintenance.
Data and platform-based offers and solutions are becoming increasingly important in mechanical engineering and plant construction. Digital platforms are standardized exchange formats for information, data security and data integrity. Despite the uncertainty as to what implications are to be expected in the manufacturing industry as a result of digital platforms and how strongly these will impact, mechanical engineering companies, as central technology integrators and providers, are affected by Industry 4.0. This can be the case as a customer, as a partner or even as an operator of digital platforms.
On the one hand, there are great opportunities in terms of networking, efficiency and new business areas. On the other hand, however, there is the risk that existing trading relationships will also change in the mechanical engineering sector. It is important that industrial companies deal with the topic in good time and build up digital competencies in order to participate in the growing ecosystem of "digital platforms".
Within the framework of this exchange of experiences, the possibilities of digital platforms will be demonstrated using the example of predictive maintenance. In the area of predictive maintenance, platform providers, be they multinational software providers, start-ups or engineering companies with their own platform, are predicted to have a significantly higher market share than "traditional" machine builders. Predictive maintenance is seen as a key issue by the vast majority of mechanical engineering companies, with less than half of them already offering corresponding technologies and services. The practical examples presented at this exchange of experiences are intended to provide participants with suggestions and solutions for dealing with - or even more intensively with - this exciting topic.
The event is offered by ProduktionNRW. ProduktionNRW is the competence network for mechanical engineering and production technology in North Rhine-Westphalia and is organised by the VDMA NRW. ProduktionNRW sees itself as a platform for networking, informing and marketing companies, institutions and networks among themselves and along the value chain. Substantial parts of the services provided by ProduktionNRW are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
