(Postponed to July 12)

Standardization is the basis for seamless, interoperable integration of technologies and products in a variety of applications and systems.

Peter Leis, 3GPP CT1 Chair at Nokia Networks, will give an introduction to 3GPP's role in standardization in the mobile industry.

The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) brings together seven telecommunications standards development organizations (ARIB, ATIS, CCSA, ETSI, TSDSI, TTA, TTC)*, known as "Organizational Partners", which provide a stable environment for their members to produce reports and specifications that define 3GPP technologies.

The 3GPP specifications cover mobile technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE and 5G/NR...), including radio access, core network and service functions, providing a complete system description for mobile telecommunications.

The objectives and working methods of standardization bodies within 3GPP are explained using examples.

about the VDMA Wireless Communications for Machines

The Working Group Wireless Communications for Machines (AG WCM) provides a cross-industry platform for companies seeking to integrate wireless communication solutions into their machines, plants and production systems. This is achieved through enthusiastic cooperation and knowledge transfer between all relevant players along the value chain.

More than 100 organizations have joined the AG WCM since its foundation in March 2021. Become part of this network and get involved:

  • Benchmarking in the definition of requirements and use cases, technology selection and holistic integration of communication solutions in the mechanical engineering ecosystem
  • Expansion of the stakeholder network of the value chain
  • Formulation of policy requirements
  • Collaboration with relevant organizations and decision-makers

You are welcome to obtain further information on WCM by following our topic page, where you will find information on events, groups, services and contact options: https: //www.vdma.org/wireless-communications
