The networking continues: VDMA and CHEMIETECHNIK will hold the 8th Engineering Summit  as a face-to-face event in the science and congress center darmstadtium. Under the motto "Welcome to the new realities in plant engineering", the focus will be on the question of what opportunities the global energy transformation offers for the industry.

The topics

  • What consequences does the war in Ukraine have for plant engineering and how is the industry reacting to the conflict?
  • What opportunities does the transformation to a sustainable economy offer to plant engineering business?
  • What role do LNG, (green) hydrogen, wind power and Power-2-X play in this?
  • What specific lessons does plant engineering learn from the corona pandemic?
  • Which methods and processes promise success in the project business and improve performance? This time, the focus is on digitization and modularization.

Lunch break & visit of the exhibition

14:15 - 15:00 hrs.

Plant engineering in the post-Covid world: Business as usual or new normal?

The methodical approach to handling plant engineering projects has changed fundamentally since Corona. The lessons that plant engineering has learned from the changed conditions and how projects can be successfully completed even under difficult pandemic conditions will be the subject of this presentation.

Welcome and introduction

Armin Scheuermann, Editor-in-Chief, CHEMIE TECHNIK
Klaus Gottwald, VDMA Large Industrial Plant Manufacturers' Group

09:00 - 09:45 hrs.

Summit Talk 3: The new realities in plant engineering - the short- and long-term consequences of the Ukraine conflict

The large industrial plant manufacturing industry is clearly affected by the consequences of the Ukraine war. Higher prices in the energy market mean that investments are not only being driven into the development of new energy sources, but that the type of projects is also changing. LNG, ammonia and hydrogen dominate the current discussion. At the same time, the regional weights are shifting. Individual industry representatives are already anticipating de-globalisation and the development of redundant production capacities. What this could mean for plant construction and which new markets will emerge?

09:45 - 10:30 hrs.

The value of implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the EPC business

10:30 - 11:00 hrs.

Coffee break & visit of the exhibition

11:00 - 11:45 hrs.

Strategic realignment of a plant engineering company in the VUCA world

12:30 - 13:45 hrs.

Lunch break & visit of the exhibition

13:45 - 14:30 hrs.

Smart modularization in a mega-project using the current example of a polyol complex from MOL

14:30 - 15:15 hrs.

Digitization without legacy costs: Example of a new medium-sized EPC provider

15:15 - 16:00 hrs.

Unified engineering at Haldor Topsoe: Data-centered approach as a game-changer in engineering

16:00 - 16:15 hrs.
