German mechanical and plant engineering has always been able to build on its high innovative strength. However, medium-sized companies in particular quickly come up against personnel or financial limits in their research and development activities.

On January 1, 2020, the Act on Tax Subsidies for Research and Development (Research Subsidy Act) came into force. Funding is provided for research and development projects that are classified as basic research, industrial research or experimental development. The open nature of the funding and its predictability benefit the versatile mechanical and plant engineering sector. All companies subject to income or corporation tax are eligible for the funding.

Before we get into the topic of tax-based research funding, we will give you an overview of the funding landscape. We will address the following questions, among others: What funding programs are currently available? Which programs are interesting for whom? What are the funding rates? In the case of tax-based research funding, we will show you what you need to consider and which forms of funding you can benefit from.

Reports on the experiences of our members are always extremely enriching for all participants. If you would like to share your experiences with fiscal research funding in a short (approx. 5 min.) presentation: please contact Walter Heinrich Neumann (walter-heinrich.neumann@vdma.org) at any time.

The target group is specialists and executives from the fields of research and development, innovation and taxation.
