Additive manufacturing offers exciting new possibilities for the design of structural and functional components. Due to the low volumes typical in the aerospace industry, promising applications are emerging in satellite construction. OHB is already using additive manufacturing for initial parts and components.
The talk will present OHB's approach to the design, manufacturing and testing of titanium and aluminum components using laser powder bed fusion. Recently developed components will be presented to illustrate the advantages of the technology over existing solutions. An outlook on supply chain requirements and process verification will round out the presentation.
