Green products and systems from the mechanical and plant engineering sector can save around 30 gigatons of CO2 equivalents annually in the OECD and BRIC countries. In this context, the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is crucial in recording the total greenhouse gas emissions caused by a product in the various phases of its life cycle.

A VDMA guideline offers companies support in calculating the PCF, explains the procedure and steps of the calculation methodology and, in particular, addresses the issue of Scope 3 accounting. This VDMA Guideline is based on ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol Accounting Standards.

In parallel, the so-called PCF-Starter was developed within the framework of a PCF expert group with VDMA members and the software company Tanso. Starting April 26, 2023, VDMA members can use the PCF-Starter to calculate the PCF of their machinery and equipment free of charge and pragmatically in accordance with the VDMA Guideline and derive initial hotspots.

In addition to first-hand information from the VDMA on the VDMA Guideline and the PCF Starter, we also want to receive testimonials on PCF calculation in the virtual event. To this end, we encourage you to share your first experiences with the group of participants. Bring in your questions on the topic and exchange your thoughts with colleagues from other member companies and with the speakers.

The event is aimed at specialists and managers from the environmental and management sectors.
