About OGU
OGU Oil & Gas Uzbekistan in Tashkent has become increasingly important in the years leading up to the coronavirus crisis. a particular focus of the trade fair is on the processing of gas, oil and petrochemicals. These focal points are also highlighted at the accompanying conference, which takes place in parallel.

OGU is always supported by the Uzbek Ministry of Energy and the national holding company of the Uzbek oil and gas industry, JSC "Uzbekneftegaz".

About Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan has been seeking international economic cooperation since 2017. The need for investment extends across all sectors of industry and agriculture, as well as infrastructure development. The aim is to prevent supply bottlenecks in the country, but also to boost exports to Central Asia.

As recently as April this year, the country signed a memorandum of understanding with the EU on critical raw materials. While the EU is to be granted access to mineral resources (Uzbekistan has lithium brine deposits, for example), Uzbekistan is to be supported in the development of its mining industry in return.

Uzbekistan's economy is forecast to grow by at least five percent in 2024 and 2025. The reasons for the steady growth include economic reforms, such as the opening of the market in the energy sector, the transformation and privatization of state-owned companies and increased support for companies.

Uzbekistan's export goods are currently benefiting from the increased prices for gold and copper. There is also strong demand for textiles and clothing. The main markets supplied are China, Russia and Turkey.

In the oil and gas sector, 211 oil and gas deposits have been discovered in Uzbekistan to date, including 108 gas and gas condensate deposits and 103 oil and oil condensate deposits. More than 50 percent of these deposits are currently being used for industrial purposes and a further 35 percent are being prepared for exploration. However, not only domestic raw materials are processed in Uzbekistan, but increasingly also oil from Russia and Kazakhstan.
