The dual transformation through digitalization and sustainability opens up enormous opportunities for new business models in mechanical and plant engineering - these are the focus of our event.
Flender GmbH
The mechanical and plant engineering industry is already a key driver of numerous transformation processes - including in the area of twin transformation. This refers to the dual transformation of digitalization and sustainability, which reinforce each other and lead to a more efficient and sustainable economy. The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enable resource-saving and more efficient production methods through digital technologies.
New business models are created in particular by linking digitalization with energy efficiency and resource conservation. Various technologies and approaches are being used, from IoT and big data to advanced materials and innovative production techniques. These are implemented using a variety of methods, ranging from sensor technology and AI-supported predictive maintenance to improved plant designs and circular economy concepts.
The event will provide an in-depth introduction to the concept of twin transformation and highlight specific future opportunities for mechanical and plant engineering, particularly for SMEs. Flender GmbH and XITASO GmbH will then present practical examples from the industry that illustrate the potential of twin transformation. In addition, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT (on request) will provide an insight into key future areas of this development. The event will be rounded off with a factory tour at Flender GmbH, which will give participants an exclusive insight into the practical side of things. The focus will be on interactive exchange and the development of a topic-specific network.
The event is part of the event series "Enablers and pioneers: Mechanical engineering shapes the transformation" and is aimed at managing directors and employees from mechanical engineering companies and companies along the value chain. The focus is on the development of topic-related networks.

The event series "Enablers and pioneers: Mechanical and plant engineering shapes the transformation" is offered by ProduktionNRW. ProduktionNRW is the cluster of mechanical engineering and production technology in North Rhine-Westphalia and is organized by VDMA NRW. ProduktionNRW sees itself as a platform for networking, informing and marketing companies, institutions and networks with each other and along the value chain. Significant parts of the services provided by ProduktionNRW are funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
