By applying the circular economy, companies can make their use of resources more efficient and at the same time be more environmentally friendly. The main aim is to preserve the value and useful life of raw materials and products for as long as possible. This is achieved through various measures, such as the 10-R concept, to preserve value. As a result of these efforts, the use of new raw materials is reduced, waste is avoided and greenhouse gas emissions are reduced.

In mechanical and plant engineering in particular, the transformation to a circular economy opens up significant potential. Core concepts of the circular economy, such as the focus on high product quality, the provision of service-oriented offerings and the extension of product lifetimes, are already common practice in the industry. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for technical innovations, the development of new business areas and interfaces to digitalization. Technologies from the mechanical and plant engineering sector also provide important technologies for transformation in other sectors of the economy.

With "CIRCO", a workshop offering was developed in the Netherlands that supports companies in developing new, sustainable business models and product designs in line with the circular economy on the basis of their existing linear value chain. The method has already been successfully used by over 2,000 companies in the Netherlands. The Effizienz-Agentur NRW is the first CIRCO hub in Germany and has been successfully running the series of workshops with companies in NRW for two years now. CIRCO workshop series, known as tracks, are offered to companies at regular intervals under the title "Added value through circular design".

As part of the event, keynote speeches are planned to introduce the "CIRCO" method by the Efficiency Agency NRW. In addition, we want to use practical examples to illustrate the entry into and challenges of the circular economy.

Bring your experience and questions on the topic and share your thoughts with colleagues from other member companies and with the speakers. We look forward to an intensive exchange of experiences.

The event is aimed at specialists and managers from the fields of environment, lean and management.
