Apart ACHEMA in Frankfurt and besides KHIMIA in Moscow, ChemTECH in Mumbai is now the only major pure chemical technology and engineering trade fair abroad that is attended by a significant number of German and international companies. Traditionally, every two years in February, numerous European and Indian machinery manufacturers participate in CHEMTECH in Mumbai. Due to the pandemic, the event in presence has been postponed from 2021 to 2022.

About the fair
ChemTECH / SpecialityChemiCAL / ChemPetro / BioPharma / Industry Automation & Control / WaterEX / EPC / PVF Pumps, Valves & Fittings is the oldest and most important exhibition for process technology in India. It looks back on 50 years of history and for many decades VDMA and DECHEMA have been involved as partners of this fair. In addition to chemical technology, the event has for some years also included the areas of process water and plant control and automation, which are important for process technology. The event is accompanied by a congress focusing on EPC management. Here is the CHEMTECH Homepage.

Indo-German Pavilion and VDMA India Pavilion
Since 1994, the BMWi has been organizing a German Pavilion at CHEMTECH at the request of the VDMA Process Machinery and Apparatus Association. However, due to low registration numbers at the BMWi, owing to the ongoing Corona pandemic, the planned German participation for CHEMTECH 2022 in Mumbai was cancelled. Therefore there will be no German Pavilion.

For those still interested, however, there is the possibility of obtaining a place in the Indo-German Pavilion at the fair. This will be organized by the organizer. The cost of the stand space with stand construction is 18,000 rupees/m².
Due to the postponement of the fair from originally February to June, the application deadline has been extended. The application forms for the Pavilion as well as further information about the fair can be downloaded below. Please note: The deadline for registration is April 15th, 2022. Mr. Sudhanshu Nagar from the responsible exhibition company is available as your contact person (e-mail: sudhanshu_nagar@jasubhai.com, phone: +91 22 403636).

VDMA India is also expected to be present at the fair with an information booth.

Review 2021 & 2019
Due to the pandemic, the 2021 fair had to be held solely as a virtual lecture event. In 2019, on the other hand, 46 German companies took part, exhibiting either in the German Pavilion or often together with representatives or the local partner. The following companies participated: BHS-Sonthofen, IGEMA, Paul Bungartz, LEWA, Piller Blowers & Compressors, Dr. Paul Lohmann, URACA, EKATO India, Witte Pumps & Technology, HERMETIC-Pumpen, Witzenmann and VDMA.

Outside the German Pavilion, the following VDMA members and companies of German relation exhibited: Alfa Laval, GMM Pfaudler, Georg Fischer, Beckhoff Automation, Phoenix Mecano India, Samson Controls, Dechema, Flux India, Funke Heatex India, Klaus Union India, WIKA India, Roechling Engineering, Andritz Pumps India, Sulzer Pumps, GEA Process, R. Stahl, Schwing Stetter India, BASF, Technip FMC, Ruhrpumpen India.

There were also more trade visitors compared to two years ago. The majority of exhibitors reported good to very good discussions, and the quality of the visitors had risen significantly. In the exhibitor survey at the German Pavilion, 50 per cent of the companies said they saw good to very good opportunities for post-fair business, and another 28 per cent saw at least average opportunities.

Reception by the German Consul General at the Leela
On the first day of the fair (20.02.2019), Dr. Jürgen Morhard, German Consul General at Mumbai, hosted a reception at the Leela Kempinski Hotel with 70 visitors, including customers as well as representatives from the Process Industry as well as from BASF and the Reliance Group. Here, too, the participants were very optimistic and were able to exchange views on the business outlook. Very likely there will be no reception in 2022.

VDMA Management Meeting Process Technology
Also on the first day of the fair, 25 process technology experts from India and Germany exchanged views at the VDMA Management Meeting Process Technology India. The reports from the many local subsidiaries were interesting. Depending on the situation, the companies reported double-digit growth rates in 2018 and foresee the same for 2019 and 2020. An International Management Meeting by VDMA alongside CHEMTECH is also planned again in 2022.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Mr Ragnar Strauch at the VDMA in Frankfurt (Ragnar.Strauch@vdma.org, Tel. +49 69 6603-1393) or at VDMA India, Mr Sandip Roy (sandip.roy@vdmaindia.org, Tel. +91 98) 30 67 43 02).
