The Machinery Directive has a very complex area of application. Are the products you manufacture covered? If so, are they covered, for example, as machines or as partly completed machinery? What is the distribution if products are covered by the scope of the Machinery Directive? Do the cost disadvantages outweigh the benefits or do other aspects outweigh them? These practice-relevant questions will be answered at this VDMA exchange of experience. You will also receive background information on the legal construction of partly completed machinery, which is being discussed very intensively in the revision process of the Machinery Directive. In some cases, the requirements go as far as the deletion of incomplete machines without replacement.
Thomas Kraus from the TUN department of the VDMA is a member of the machinery committee and has intensive contact with the EU Commission. He will inform you about the current status of the new version of the machinery directive. When can the Commission draft be expected? What can be the main points of the amendment? Is it to be expected that cybersecurity requirements will be included in the Machinery Directive? What role will artificial intelligence play?
A further focus of the VDMA exchange of experience will be the preparation of the operating manual. Irrespective of the form of the operating instructions, the manufacturer must fulfil obligations regarding language version and content. Find out at first hand what the legal requirements focus on.
