A lab tour at the Robotics Research Institute (IRF) of the Technical University of Dortmund shows how the transfer of innovative ideas from the field of Industrie 4.0 into businesses can succeed.
ProduktionNRW offers the I4.0 LabTour tour series to encourage the transfer of innovative ideas from the field of Industrie 4.0 into businesses. The events are hosted by important places of innovation at German research institutes, with particular emphasis placed on practical application. The LabTours show how varied Industrie 4.0 is, and the extent of the associated range of individual solutions. The goal of the event is to let participants experience practical examples of digital production “live” and pick up suggestions for their own projects.
The Robotics Research Institute (IRF) at the Technical University of Dortmund comprises the Institute of Data Processing and the Institute of Control Theory and Systems Engineering, and deals with the latest developments in robotics. The focus of research by IRF is divided into the fields of intelligent environments, autonomous robotics and resource management. The Institute of Control Theory and Systems Engineering concentrates on developing models, identification, control and optimisation of networked mechatronic systems. Examples of industrial application are seeing mobile service robots in office and factory environments, and elastic, lightweight robots to ensure safe human-machine collaboration. The fields of activity of the Institute of Data Processing include the key technology of autonomous robotics.
The Institute has very well equipped laboratories to verify and validate its own developments in real time under industrial and practical conditions. This lab tour will show how the transfer of innovative ideas from the field of Industrie 4.0 into businesses can succeed.
This event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on 11 October 2018 at the Robotics Research Institute of the Technical University of Dortmund.
