Carbon management is seen as the key to achieving climate targets and offers enormous opportunities for mechanical and plant engineering - this series of events will specifically address this potential.

MAN Energy Solutions SE

The mechanical and plant engineering industry is already a solution provider for many transformation processes - including in the area of carbon management. In addition to supporting CO2-intensive industries with customized solutions, companies can improve their own corporate carbon footprint or offer technologies to achieve negative emissions. This applies worldwide and makes the industry a key player and export hit. No company in the mechanical and plant engineering sector can avoid this issue - in fact, processes, skills and business models must be geared towards it.

Despite the expansion of renewable energies and extensive efforts to defossilize, it will not be possible to completely avoid the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) in many industrial processes in the long term. The "Carbon Management and Removal" concept aims to treat CO2 not as a waste product but as a raw material, to bind and store it and to establish an effective CO2 circular economy - this is considered an essential step towards achieving the Paris climate targets.

What can you expect? The event will begin with an introduction to carbon management, focusing in particular on the opportunities for new business models in mechanical and plant engineering - especially the possibilities for SMEs. Exemplary business models from MAN Energy Solutions SE and Air Liquide Deutschland GmbH will then be presented. These approaches are intended to encourage other companies to actively address the key transformation issues and develop their own innovative business models. In addition to focusing on the business models, the focus is on interactive exchange and the establishment of a topic-related network.

Event series "Enablers and pioneers: mechanical engineering shapes the transformation"

The event is part of the ProduktionNRW event series "Enabler and pioneer: mechanical engineering is shaping the transformation" and is aimed at managers and employees from mechanical engineering companies and companies along the value chain. The focus is on the development of topic-related networks.

Moderation: Hans-Jürgen Alt
Registration deadline: 11.11.2024

Organizer

The event series is offered by ProduktionNRW. ProduktionNRW is the cluster of mechanical engineering and production technology in North Rhine-Westphalia and is organized by VDMA NRW. ProduktionNRW sees itself as a platform for networking, informing and marketing companies, institutions and networks with each other and along the value chain. Significant parts of the services provided by ProduktionNRW are funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
