The Companion Specification OPC UA 40740 'Process Air Extraction and Filtration Systems (PAEFS)' describes globally applicable semantics for filter systems. The aim is to enable open communication between process air extraction and filtration systems and other machines and production systems. The standard reduces the effort involved in connecting filter systems and prepares them for the connectivity of the future.

The OPC UA Information Model for Process Air Extraction and Filtration Systems (PAEFS) will be presented during the workshop. The information model supports the basic functions of PAEFS in process air technology, including the air supply for processes, the creation of the required air condition and the removal of released substances. PAEFS are important in various industries, especially in the process and manufacturing industries. Depending on the area of application, the model can depict both simple and complex filter systems.

The Companion Specification covers the methods for controlling and monitoring filter systems (https://www.vdma.org/catalog-detail/-/catalog/9598). The modelling solutions are presented using examples of air filtration systems with cartridge filters and electrostatic precipitators.

The OPC UA project lays important foundations for IoT integration in process air and dedusting technology and facilitates the interoperability of systems, machines and plants as well as their direct communication.

The full program of the seminar series can be found here.

The session will be held in English and recorded on YouTube for later viewing.
