The circular economy offers numerous opportunities for mechanical engineering, especially with regard to new business models. A new VDMA guide, which we would like to present to you at the Hannover Messe, provides orientation.

The VDMA would like to support its members on the way to the circular economy and circular business models and has developed a practical guide in cooperation with the Wuppertal Institute, which is intended to open up participation in the circular economy for machine builders.

In the immediate aftermath of our Mechanical Engineering Summit Salon at the Hannover Messe, we will on the one hand present the concrete contents of this guide and explain individual backgrounds. On the other hand, you will get an exciting insight into the practical implementation and as a best-practice example, how circular economy is lived at WILO SE on its own product.

Oriented to the "R-strategies" of the circular economy (including Rethink, Reduce, Re-use, Repair, Refubish, Remanufacture, Recycle), the guide not only conveys knowledge about these approaches, but also explains where there is potential for circular business models. Designing and thinking about one's own technologies and services in a more circular way are thus central aspects. Special attention is paid to the digital requirements for enabling circular business. The guide is set up as an easily accessible document that provides the reader with a sound overview of the circular economy and concrete starting points for the products of mechanical and plant engineering.

We look forward to your participation!
