Platform business models are the most successful business models in the era of digitalization. In addition to conveying the interrelationships, some practical examples will show how mechanical engineering can successfully use platform business models.

Platform business models are the most successful business models in the era of digitalization. This is no coincidence! They shift the previous thinking of value creation and consistently use the digital means that technical development makes available. This allows companies to position themselves completely differently in the value chain.
Practical examples are used to show how platforms and the services that build on them are organized and how value creation takes place in concrete terms. It becomes clear that the integration of services must also take place on the digital level, which at the same time expands the platform discussion in the direction of a "digital ecosystem". It can be seen that digital platform-based services are becoming even more influential, especially in partnership-based value creation networks, and that the platforms presented should therefore always be understood as a technical basis that is open to further digital services from third parties. For the future, it will be important to build these digital ecosystems or to see oneself as a player in such an ecosystem and to position oneself accordingly.
What can participants expect from the event?
The aim of the approximately two-hour event is to convey the structure of platforms, the concept of digital ecosystems and the roles in such an ecosystem. Practical examples will show how machine builders can implement an IoT platform without complex programming.
The exchange of experiences is aimed at specialists and managers from the fields of digitalization, IT and business development.
