The Green Deal and the new climate protection law are challenging and put pressure on the decarbonization path of medium-sized companies. However, investments in environmentally friendly technologies and green innovations promise new business models and growth opportunities at the same time.

16x9

In order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Green Deal and the new climate protection law, but also to identify and jointly solve problems, the competence networks ProduktionNRW and kunststoffland NRW have founded the initiative "Industrievernetzung NRW zur Dekarbonisierung". The initiative is intended to promote exchange as well as knowledge transfer and proactive action around environmentally friendly technologies and green innovations. The aim here is to initiate concrete projects in order to jointly develop new solutions and ideas in this direction.

This kick-off event will provide an overview of the opportunities and risks derived from the Climate Protection Act for industrial SMEs as well as the various topics covered by the initiative. These topic areas will be dealt with in greater depth in parallel workshops. The workshop results will form the guiding principles for follow-up events in the coming months, so that the topic areas can then be explored in greater depth in further innovation workshops.

Join the initiative and tackle the challenges of the future together with other medium-sized companies! We look forward to your participation.

Event topics

Heat generation accounts for almost 50 percent of Germany's primary energy consumption. Society's CO2 targets present German SMEs with enormous challenges in converting from conventional to low-CO2 heat generation. Added to this are the often confusing costs for heat-generating operations arising from CO2 taxation and certificate trading.

A circular economy based on a full lifecycle approach is an essential prerequisite for the successful transition to a sustainable low-carbon economy. The aim is to drive climate innovation, implement projects with high CO2 reduction and achieve growth without emissions. Plastics are particularly in the public spotlight here. The goal of recycling plastics and increasing the use of recycled plastics is a first step towards making products more sustainable.

The aim of lightweight construction is to save raw materials, energy and costs during production, as well as the use of the product through to recycling. The resulting fuel savings and reduction of climate-damaging emissions find applications in transportation and shipbuilding, but also in the wind industry, the construction sector, and in mechanical and plant engineering. Lightweight construction not only leads to a reduction in the weight of components, but can also contribute to demand-oriented component design and - with appropriate design - to improved recyclability at the end of the life cycle.
