The buzzword Internet of Things refers to the embedding of people, processes and (physical) objects in the virtual world. The things thus connected via the Internet enable seamless communication with each other. Access to low-cost, energy-saving sensors, the expansion of connectivity and cloud platforms, and artificial intelligence enable intelligent networking. Application fields of IoT in mechanical and plant engineering include, for example, communication between machines (M2M), predictive maintenance, monitoring and optimization of processes.
IoT platforms are an important technological building block in the networked enterprise of the future. However, a complex supplier market and dependencies on the system landscape in the company make it difficult to select the right platform. The presentation by FIR of RWTH Aachen University addresses risks, potentials as well as advice on the selection and introduction of IoT platforms. Plain Concepts' contribution addresses the approach to building an IoT platform and the challenges involved. It discusses questions such as: Where does the data come from? What is important in data aggregation? What are the use cases in mechanical engineering? In the following presentation by HMS Industrial Networks AB, participants will learn how existing plants can be integrated into digitization strategies without the need for new project planning in order to be able to offer innovative, digital services in the brownfield environment as well. A concluding presentation by TTTech Industrial Automation AG will address the topic of open IIoT platforms.
The event is aimed at specialists and managers from the fields of digitalization and IT.
Moderation: Nirugaa Natkunarajah
Registration deadline: 12.10.2022
The event will take place online with the help of the IT tool team. Prior to the event, registered participants will receive a confirmation of participation and the technical details of the online tool including a dial-in link. If you are unable to attend despite registering, please send us a short message.
In the interest of efficient dialogue, we have limited the number of participants. Registrations will be considered in the order in which they are received.
Participation in the event is free of charge.
Organizer
The event is offered by ProduktionNRW. ProduktionNRW is the competence network for mechanical engineering and production technology in North Rhine-Westphalia and is run by VDMA NRW. ProduktionNRW sees itself as a platform for networking, informing and marketing companies, institutions and networks among themselves and along the value chain. Significant parts of the services provided by ProduktionNRW are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
