In 2024, there will again be a German pavillion at agrofood Nigeria. the trade show combines the three sub-brands agro, food + bev tec and food ingredients.

The focus is on machinery and equipment along the entire value chain of food and beverage production: from raw material handling, processing, filling and food packaging to logistics, including packaging materials and the production of packaging as well as ingredients and flavourings for food. The trade fair takes place annually. The organiser is fairtrade from Heidelberg.
The Nigerian food industry is highly fragmented. In addition to local and other smaller foreign manufacturers, multinational corporations also produce food in the country. However, in order to supply the growing population, a considerable amount of food still has to be imported. The Nigerian government wants to drastically reduce this and create incentives for local food production. The food industry is one of Nigeria's most promising economic sectors. According to Euromonitor, sales of packaged food increased by almost 10% between 2017 and 2022. As a result, there have been numerous investments in this sector in recent years. Market experts assume that the food industry in Nigeria will continue to be characterised by high growth in the medium term.
Nigeria is therefore likely to remain an interesting sales market for manufacturers of food and packaging machinery in the coming years. As food imports are very expensive, the willingness to invest locally in the food industry is generally high. For this reason, the supply business is expected to continue to grow in the coming years.
