German mechanical and plant engineering is characterised by its high innovative strength - especially in the area of continuous, step-by-step improvements. In terms of leapfrog and business model innovations, there is still a need to catch up. This is also the conclusion of the VDMA study "Leadership and Innovation in Times of Digitalisation". The development of entirely new business models and the recognition of external opportunities for this is proving to be a particularly difficult task. However, this business model innovation capability is one of the most important determinants of future corporate success. In the long run, it can be risky to rely only on the existing business model. Business model innovations are so challenging because, among other things, new markets and technologies have to be constantly observed and ideas for own products and solutions for the customer or new customers have to be developed from them.

What can you expect from the virtual exchange of experiences? In this two-hour event, Christopher Rechtien from Kothes GmbH will first give you an impulse presentation on how to use service and user information to create added value for your own company. Using methods from Design Thinking and Value Proposition Canvas, the workshop participants will then work out how machine and plant manufacturers can generate added value from service and user information using two fictitious examples - a classic pump manufacturer and a pump manufacturer with a subscription business model. In the best case, the participants will also receive initial ideas for new business models based on the use of data and information. The small group work in the course of the workshop will be carried out using the IT tool Mural - so you will also get to know the creative potential of virtual workshops at the same time.

The exchange of experiences is aimed at experts and managers from the fields of business development, innovation and digitalisation.
