The Product Carbon Footprint, or PCF, is critical in capturing the total greenhouse gas emissions generated by a product during the various stages of its life cycle.
Scope 1 and 2 emissions (emissions from sources for which the company is directly responsible and indirect emissions from grid-based energy) account for only a small proportion of total emissions. Scope 3 emissions, from upstream and downstream in the value chain, represent a key element in the Net Zero strategy. However, reducing scope 3 GHG emissions faces many challenges due to lack of transparency and complexity within global value chains. Harmonizing calculation approaches and comparing results seems difficult. General standards as a basis for PCF calculations often remain too generic for mechanical and plant engineering due to their lack of specificity to establish robust comparability. In order to meet these challenges, the VDMA, in cooperation with various member companies, is developing a "PCF calculation guideline" for mechanical and plant engineering.
We hereby cordially invite you to the publication of the "PCF Calculation Guideline" on December 15 from 10 am to 12 pm. The event will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams. You will find the dial-in data in your personal myVdma area after successful registration. In addition, we will send the dial-in data to all participants via e-mail shortly before the meeting.
We would like to address all those interested in the topic of "PCF calculation", who already have initial knowledge or are in the process of professionalizing PCF calculation in the company. The event is aimed in particular at environmental and quality management.
