QM Corner - that means one topic, one hour, virtually. This time the focus is on risk and opportunity management as a central element of ISO 9001.

The revision of ISO 9001 is expected to be delayed until autumn 2026 - publication was originally planned for the end of 2025. The first draft, known as the Committee Draft, was published in April 2024 and submitted to the members of the ISO committee TC 176 for discussion. A key element of this is integrated opportunity and risk management.
Well thought-out opportunity and risk management is essential in order to make organisations resilient and fit for the future - in the best case even antifragile. It is about not only recognising risks and opportunities, but actively shaping them. In mechanical and plant engineering in particular, the early identification of potential risks is crucial - such as technical errors, delivery bottlenecks, legal uncertainties or internal process weaknesses. At the same time, structured opportunity management opens up significant potential: from technological innovations and optimised processes to improved customer loyalty and employee motivation.
But how can risks and opportunities be systematically identified, evaluated and effectively integrated into an existing management system in accordance with ISO 9001? These and other questions are at the centre of this QM-Corner. In an open exchange, we will discuss specific practical examples, share experiences and jointly develop approaches for effective implementation.
The QM Corner also offers space for current quality management topics - with the aim of learning from each other and gaining inspiration for your own practice.
