OPC UA for the powertrain addresses interoperability in the context of Industry 4.0 communication by defining manufacturer-independent information models for the electric powertrain. This reduces the engineering and integration effort for the powertrain components in machines and systems and enables new services in a networked production.
The VDMA Shopfloor Data Session will focus on the presentation of the OPC UA Companion Specification OPC 40400-1, which addresses the topic of asset management. The drive components are described with their technical information and enable the OPC UA-specific mapping of all design variations of a drive system. This standardized database can be used to efficiently realize a wide range of asset management applications in the areas of commissioning, operation and maintenance in a uniform manner across all manufacturers.
In addition, this session will provide an initial preview of the next OPC UA Companion Specification, which will deal with use cases in the area of application-related diagnostics.
