Companies should take more responsibility for their global supply and value chains. This is demanded by the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) and an EU directive currently under development. When the German law comes into force on January 1, 2023, global working conditions and social standards are to be improved.
The German law affects companies with at least 3,000 (and from 2024, 1,000) employees. However, as suppliers, smaller companies may also be indirectly affected to which the LkSG does not apply. Companies should address the requirements of the LkSG at an early stage and put their risk management to the test in order to identify and avoid any human rights violations or damage to the environment in good time.
The HARTING Technology Group from Espelkamp gives us a practical example of the measures taken for supply chains, how risk management works, how the Code of Conduct is established and how dealings with suppliers are regulated. The VDMA goes into detail about the Supply Chain Duty of Care Act and presents implementation and support options. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to exchange questions.
