The mechanical and plant engineering industry, like the entire industry, will have to live with the consequences of the corona pandemic for a long time to come. This makes it all the more important that medium-sized companies are not burdened with even greater burdens.
"Tentative easing at best"
In August, companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector posted a 14 percent drop in real orders. This is the smallest decline on a monthly basis since the beginning of the corona crisis.

In 2016, the fuel cell industry in Germany achieved a turnover of around EUR 100 million from fuel cell heating devices and power supply systems. Following a lateral movement the previous year, the economic outlook of the VDMA Fuel Cells working group forecasts a growth of 90 percent for the current year based on an industrial survey. Manufacturers can be very optimistic about 2017.

In the fourth quarter of 2016, order bookings in the German machine tool industry fell by four per cent compared to the preceding year’s equivalent period. Both exports and domestic orders showed a roughly equal decline. For 2016 as a whole, the rise came to seven per cent, with orders from abroad up by ten per cent, while domestic orders ended up at plus/minus zero.
